Would a rap battle syllabus work?

I work in a completely different industry (gambling) now, but before I was in education.

We are all battle rap fans. But do you think a battle rap syllabus for 16+ and/or university would work.

3 main topics

a) History and the people involved (worldwide)
b) Use of language and literature/case studies of verses/battles
c) Battle rap in popular culture - praise and criticism

You would have an essay paper with thousands of possible questions + literary analysis.

Too nerdy? What do you think? Would a) any universities/schools buy this and b) would anyone study it?

I see one problem being the bad language used.

you mention one of the greats but mention one of his worst lines. I don't see English literature syllabus' covering an author's worst work or meaningless work.

The point would be to show the use of language through battle rap. I kinda see it as pretty lame. But it would be easy to write and pretty interested for anyone interested in hip hop.
