Wassup yall...Curious to hear people's opinions on Pat's potential next move. Let me start by saying yes I am a huge fan of Pat's but I watch all leagues and try not to use any favoritism.
First question: Who should get the next title shot?
This a real tough one for me. Im sure some people out there still riding Charron's little streak he had last year hard and will say him. But in all honestly, his last performamce vs Sauras was so-so. Pat gains nothing by this battle happening. If he kills Charron, OK yea who didnt see that coming, if he loses, holy sh*t Pat got bodied by that nerd?
Pat has always picked his opponents very carefully and strategically, which was the reason he didnt want the chain for so long cause he didnt wanna be forced into taking any battle. I think Organik and co. are smart enough to realize that Pat is their best attraction and commodity, by FAR. They dont want to upset him in any way. But they are in a tough spot as there really isnt any true guy who's "Next Up"
I saw TO Battle Blog throwing around Charlie Clips as a possible opponent. This makes some sense. Charlie is top 5 in the world right now, and has had some classic performances on KOTD. He is undoubtebly undefeated on KOTD, and the battle would probably get 6-700k in views and sell tickets. But Clips isn't a true KOTD battler. Not only that, he seems to be willing to go anywhere to battle on any league with a paycheck and a somewhat formiddable opponent. Could be a bad look for KOTD if he did beat Pat, and was running all over the scene wearing the chain. Is that what they want as their champion?
I know DNA was pushing hard for it few years back, and he did have a legit arguement for a little bit, but Im not even going to seriously entertain this. I just hope he brings it for IllWill like he did for Prez to avoid humiliation.
Back to Pat...Also, to speak to Pats legacy as a battle rapper, I know the big knock is hes never stepped out of his comfort zone, which even as being as big a fan of his as I am I cant ignore. That KOTD crowd dickrides him like no other. I mean honestly Arcane smoked him Bar for Bar, but that night Pat could of got up there and farted in the mic for 3 rounds and got the decision. Me personally, It doesnt bother me if Pat doesnt ever go over to Smack and battle. Who would u even put him against? Math was the obvious mirror match that KOTD pounced on.. Really who would u give him right now... Hitman ? JohnJohn? Goodz??I mean really there aint too many guys people would wanna see Pat against. honestly dont think he'd even be excited about doing it unless it was HollowDa Don
So I can see why him stepping down is being discussed. I hope and pray it doesnt happen, but all things considered Im beginning to think more and more it might. Maybe theyd set up him and Clips but not for the chain, then do Charron vs ?? (Nitty??) or Saurus vs Bender for a #1 contender match to set up his next opponent.
I think battle rap in general is kind of dying out. Theres no longer that dream battle everyone fantasizes about like Hollow Lux. Everyones battled everyone. I think NOME4 will be crazy and maybe KOTD can put together another decent card or two, but for the most part, I see all this dying down in 2-3 years, with the top tier URL guys all under Shady Records. Everyones battled everyone, especially in KOTD. Lush throwing these re-make of grindtime events every 3 months using the same 8-10 guys who arent even really affiliated with KOTD aint really helping much..Sorry for getting off topic..
