Shoutouts to Dan for throwing this dope event and everybody that came through. The event was from 1-8, but I aint have time for all that, so I showed up around 4:30. Here's a re-cap of all the shit I saw.
The Event:
Dan did a good job of throwing this shit. Event was organized and the battles were prompt. There were also a bunch of 10-15 minute breaks here and there which was great for going out and smoking and meeting battlers and shit. Super chill vibe all around.
Hella people came through, which was awesome because it was relatively small, and in a small venue, so I pretty much got to meet whoever I wanted. Got to holla at Diz, Lush, Dan, Caustic, Tantrum, Joe Cutter, Reverse Live, Lex D, and MOTHA FUCKING TIGER TY. I was literally star struck when I met Ty.
The Battles (the ones I was there for that anyone gives a fuck about):
- Lex D vs Pariah: Lex was absolutely hysterical, and Pariah did the typical Pariah thing. Lex stumbled a little every round, but still had a pretty undeniable 3-0. Definitely worth watching Lex's rounds.
-Reverse Live vs Luck Loosh: First time hearing of Luck Loosh, and dude is just hella weird. Just strange multi syllabic rambling and avoiding saying punchlines. Reverse Live killed the shit as always. He had a few double time schemes that were just fucking ether. Was hella tight to see live. Reverse 3-0.
-Joe Cutter vs No Shame: This shit was pretty dope. No Shame had some crazy bars and had a solid three rounds, but it was clearly overshadowed by Joe's performance imo. This was one of my favorite Joe Cutter performances. He wasn't trying to be weird just for the sake of being weird, and had some insanely hilarious and offensive tranny jokes and also made some good ass points about just the state of battling and shit. The drug addict angle that No Shame took in the first was wack to me. Joe Cutter 2-1 or 3-0.
-Dirtbag Dan vs Tiger Ty: Tha gawd Tiger did his motha fuckin Tiger thing. Shit was super cool live, and you honestly just can't help but grin ear to ear while watching him. Dan had a surprisingly awesome performance too. He was hella smart about the way he approached it, beause Ty isn't a guy you can necessarily win against. Probably the most entertaining battle of the night even though it was only 1 round.
Various Other Shenanigans:
The Cypher (Fredo, Thesaurus, Pass, Caustic, Lush One): Would have been a great cypher had the mic been turned up more. Could barely hear dudes. Pass definitely smashed that shit the hardest. Lush fucked up like 2 bars in, then busted out his phone and said he had 30 pages of rhymes in it, and then read the rest of his verse. Thesaurus did well too. Couldnt hear a word Caustic or Fredo said.
How to guarantee you look like a douche: Be part of Pariah's 4 man posse that followed him out and away from the venue every break to presumably do 'butt stuff'.
Dating tips from Joe Cutter: As I was leaving the event I was walking behind Joe and some chick, and Joe turned to the girl and said "You remember the part where I said words that rhyme? That was cool" and then put his arm around her. It was pretty cute. She was not tho.
