    UK people: why do so many people drive w/out licence and unpaid taxes?

    I never got it, my friend talked about it like 10 years back when she lived on the countryside in England but i didnt think much of it. Then im watching roadwars and it seems to be a widespread problem all across the UK...but why? its not that expensive to have the cheapest insurance on your shitty car and pay taxes once a year or whatever it is? or is UK a hell of a lot more expensive than other countries?

    I have a 2005 VW Touran and it costs me 700euros/y (full coverage) and about 250euro/y for taxes...I think its quite reasonable....
