  • YANKEE CANDLE THREAD

There were two shows on shopping channel QVC yesterday and expert-in-residence was Steven Corfield, owner of The Yankee Store in Cardiff.
Both shows were interesting but the second one flowed better and had more interaction with the audience – something the Yankee Army particularly look for!

    Anyway onto the content….

QVC host Anna Cookson and Steven kicked things off in the afternoon by bringing back the electric melt warmer which also featured in the later show.
The ‘summer picnic’ collection was introduced and is a great one – Sparkling Lemon, Sweet Strawberry and Garden Hideaway at a great price and no surprise to see this one sell out. Garden Hideaway (just retired by Yankee Candle) was described as evoking thoughts of lying on your blanket outside and taking in the floral and grassy smells around you.

A collection of 72 floral tea lights was a nice set, but the real bargain of the first hour was a Black Coconut and Midsummer’s Night large jar combination for £30 with only £0.09 p&p (to celebrate 9 years of Yankee Candle on QVC). As I go to press this amazing deal is still available!

Black Coconut was brought to life by Steven with his description of it being like an evening meal on holiday after a day at the beach with the smells of warmed skin and the sun creams and oils still in the air. The injection of Sandalwood gives Black Coconut that extra hint of the exotic – delish!

Steven Corfield mentioned the detail that goes into crafting each Yankee Candle and its scent to perfection – it takes 18 months for an idea to then ultimately reach the market.

The lovely Loves Me Loves Me Not and Vanilla Clouds collection was on offer again with Steven describing the latter as “dreamlike and mystical”.

Towards the end of the first show a mixed jar size Camomile Tea set was on offered – a fragrance that is only available to the European market.

Onto the evening show and Jilly Halliday was a great QVC host with an obvious passion for the product.

The QVC 20th birthday sampler gift set was brought back for this show along with the special duo of Butter Cream and French Vanilla. Butter Cream is USA only so QVC are the only company in the UK to stock it. Steven mentioned that it generated thoughts of walking into a bakery where butter is being churned, but have no fear about it being sickly or too overpowering. As us fans know – you can put your trust in Yankee!

Lots of other great treats including a selection of 18 melts again with only £0.09 p&p.

A lovely Fresh Cut Roses collection was offered with it being described as having the scent of young sweet roses – perfect for this time of year as Roses in many parts of the country are just coming into bloom.

What added to the late show were a couple of phone in callers with Susan describing herself as a new fan of just 4 months but now a ‘Candleaholic’ who had been burning Honey Blossom since 9am! – well, I know just how you feel Susan!!

Two greatly entertaining shows once again with lots of good offers – and Yankee Candle is back on QVC TV later in the month.
