How do you pronounce "SAYS"?

A friend of mine would pronounce it like "sayez". I noticed that its mostly hispanics say it this way

I pronounce it like "sez". I remember askin a teacher when i was younger and she said you could say it either way...i wanted to slap that bitch when she said that smh
