Why are iPhone chargers so short

Can't do shit while it's charging unless u wanna sit on the floor at the wall. Cant even sit it on a desk or table while charging, has to lay on the floor.
And when u consider the fact you have to charge 2-3 times a day it's retarded. Any one agree?
